EMPRESS EUGÉNIE

Two large square cushions in egg shell white finest cotton velvet with center decorations/mirrors of matching light gold brocade framed by turquoise vintage silk velvet ribbon and trimming all around by thick gold rope with added entwined turquoise satin ribbon. Two round decorative cushions in turquoise moiré with center decoration/mirror of light gold brocade framed by light gold glittering decorative ribbon and trimmed by double sewn frills of egg shell white vintage silk. Small centerpiece cushion with reverse design; base of light gold brocade combined with center decoration/mirror in turquoise moiré framed by light gold glittering decorative ribbon and double sewn long frill in turquoise moiré.

Inspired from the lovely suite of private rooms in the Chateau de St-Cloud outside Paris, especially designed by the best decorators and upholsterers under supervision of the Empress Eugénie her self, for the Royal visit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1855. ( the magnificent Chateau de St-Cloud was destroyed and burned down by counter fire from the French as the Prussian Army used the palace grounds to shell Paris during the siege of the capital in 1870 during the Franco-Prussian War.)
